چکیده

Abstract Multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) have attracted rapidly growing attention from both research institutions and industry due to their unique microstructures outstanding physical chemical properties. However, the fabrication of MPEAs with desired properties using conventional manufacturing techniques (e.g., casting) is still challenging. With recent emergence additive (AM) techniques, locally tailorable excellent mechanical has become possible. Therefore, it paramount importance understand key aspects AM processes that influence microstructural features fabricated including porosity, anisotropy, heterogeneity, as well corresponding impact on As such, this review will first present state-of-the-art in existing process MPEAs. This followed by a discussion features, mechanisms evolution, Finally, current challenges future directions are summarized aim promote further development implementation for processing industrial applications.

Printability of alloys for additive manufacturing

Although additive manufacturing (AM), or three dimensional (3D) printing, provides significant advantages over existing manufacturing techniques, metallic parts produced by AM are susceptible to distortion, lack of fusion defects and compositional changes. Here we show that the printability, or the ability of an alloy to avoid these defects, can be examined by developing and testing appropriate...

Atomic Structure Modeling of Multi-Principal-Element Alloys by the Principle of Maximum Entropy

Atomic structure models of multi-principal-element alloys (or high-entropy alloys) composed of four to eight componential elements in both BCC and FCC lattice structures are built according to the principle of maximum entropy. With the concept of entropic force, the maximum-entropy configurations of these phases are generated through the use of Monte Carlo computer simulation. The efficiency of...

Metal Additive Manufacturing: A Review

This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of an important, rapidly emerging, manufacturing technology that is alternatively called additive manufacturing (AM), direct digital manufacturing, free form fabrication, or 3D printing, etc. A broad contextual overview of metallic AM is provided. AM has the potential to revolutionize the global parts manufacturing and logistics landscape. It enables dist...

Complex metallic alloys as new materials for additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing processes allow freeform fabrication of the physical representation of a three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) data model. This area has been expanding rapidly over the last 20 years. It includes several techniques such as selective laser sintering and stereolithography. The range of materials used today is quite restricted while there is a real demand for manufac...
